Charities Solicitor - Associate/Senior Associate

This Legal 500 and award-winning law firm steeped in heritage is currently seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to join their Charities department in London, reporting directly to the Head of Charities and Safeguarding. This role offers the opportunity to engage in high-impact work supporting a range of clients within the charitable, educational, and non-profit sectors.

The Charities Department advises UK and international organisations on charity law, covering commercial, employment, property, social enterprise, and safeguarding issues. The team is known for its client-centric approach, supporting a broad range of clients, including schools, charities, NGOs, religious orders, and business entities.

The Role

The firm is looking for a Charities Lawyer (4+ PQE) to become part of their respected Charities and Safeguarding team.

This role involves advising on charity formation and incorporation, governance, collaborations, and compliance with charity law, working with senior management teams, boards of governors, and trustees.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to the firm's strategy for growing the practice and supporting the team's robust reputation in governance, regulatory matters, and the education and not-for-profit sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advising clients on complex charity law matters, including formation, mergers, and commercial agreements.
• Working independently to provide high-quality, timely legal advice to a diverse client base.
• Collaborating with the Head of Department to develop the Charities Department and take a proactive role in client development and practice growth.
• Staying abreast of legal developments and translating regulatory changes into practical advice for clients.
• Engaging in business development, networking, and contributing to the firm's presence within the charity sector.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years PQE, preferably with a commercial law background, in-house or private practice.
• Proven experience advising on charity law, governance, and regulatory compliance.
• A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with a focus on delivering practical solutions.
• Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively.
• Experience in business development, along with excellent networking skills.
