This international trading platform are searching for a General Counsel to head up their UK operations and work closely with their high-performing international legal team.

Working side by side with their senior management team, you will be covering a range of Financial Services focused legal work.

The Role

They are seeking an experienced General Counsel to join their tight-knit UK-based team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of the company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and advising the executive team on legal matters. You will play a crucial role in shaping the company's legal strategy and safeguarding its interests in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.

You will work closely with the UK senior management team, Compliance team and various departments across the organisation, including HR, Security, Product, and Engineering. Your primary focus will be on managing corporate legal matters and implementing FCA-driven policies that align with the company's strategic objectives. You will also be instrumental in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements with technology partners and vendors, as well as advising on legal risks associated with commercial transactions.

In addition to providing legal counsel on a wide range of issues, you will be expected to anticipate potential legal challenges and proactively address them to protect the company's interests. This is a hands-on role that requires a strategic thinker with the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory environments while fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• UK Qualified lawyer from a Top 10 law firm, 8-15 PQE
• Experience advising and/or working for broker-dealers with a solid understanding of UK securities laws.
• Experience working with regulators or in a regulated business environment is a plus.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
