The Role

Shipping is a niche practice that is not on many lawyers' radar, however, it is one of the most diverse, engaging and fulfilling practice areas in the market.

You would be engaged with high-profile clients from countries across the world on all manner of multi-jurisdictional shipping, maritime and marine work. The team are currently engaged in matters originating in Brazil, the Netherlands, Turkey, the UK, Norway, the USA, Ireland, the Middle East and the United Kingdom to highlight a few.

Work includes drafting and negotiating shipbuilding contracts, providing charter advice, cargo claims, international trade matters, ship sales and purchases, off-shore commercial contracts, marine insurance, off-shore windfarm chartering and more.

Each day in this role provides a new challenge and as a result, there is no ceiling to your professional development. Work is challenging, complex and often business-critical. You will be someone who acts with rigour, has a keen intellect and is comfortable managing intricate commercial contracts and sophisticated transactions with a steady hand.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Is a high-performing individual with experience in commercial contracting and transactional matters (NQ-4) PQE. Experience in practice areas such as Projects, Construction, Commercial, Corporate and Finance are well aligned.
  • Ability to work at pace with accuracy
  • Excellent verbal/written communicator with first-rate interpersonal skills
  • Is commercially aware and has a real interest in the subject matter
  • Has a proactive, innovative and value-adding mindset
