The Role
The firm is now seeking an associate in data privacy to join their thriving office in Berlin, Germany, and support its rapidly expanding client base. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team in the heart of Berlin, a city known for its vibrant tech scene and progressive data landscape.
They are looking for an associate with ideally 2 to 8 years of post-qualification experience and a passion for data protection and commercial matters, including GDPR compliance. You'll work closely with a Berlin-based partner who has been integral to the office's growth, providing support and collaboration as the firm strengthens its presence in the German market.
As part of the firm's dedicated data team, you'll help clients protect and leverage their data assets, creating revenue streams and maximising growth.
The team has deep expertise in IT and technology law, advising on data protection, cyber risk, software and digital services, and emerging tech. Their work spans industries including media, tech, advertising, and creative sectors, providing commercial guidance to both established companies and start-ups.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting agreements and legal documents
- Assessing clients' data usage and privacy impacts
- Advising clients on data protection matters
- Negotiating with counterparts
- Engaging in marketing and business development
Requirements:
You will be a Data Associate with 2-8 years of PQE, with experience in:
- Software licensing, including software as a service and on-premises contracts.
- Distribution, reselling, and agency agreements.
- Software development, maintenance, and support agreements.
- End user licenses and consumer terms.
- Open-source licensing.
You should be commercially minded, with a talent for delivering top-tier client service, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
