This highly entrepreneurial business focuses on a range of Real Estate Investment work in the UK and Europe.

Reporting into the Legal Director and Head of Real Estate, this role will place you at the forefront of the business, dealing with a mixture of Real Estate and Real Estate Finance-focused work. The Business
The business manages an extensive portfolio of its own and client real estate investments in the UK and in Europe - they are seeking a high calibre senior legal counsel to fulfil this role.

The successful candidate will be joining an existing team with experience in investment analysis, real estate finance, asset management, finance and banking backgrounds. The team works intensely with external property and banking lawyers in the UK and Europe to support the firm's property acquisitions, sales, development, leasing, funding and suppliers and to also support the firm's lending, underwriting and litigation processes.

The business maintain fully fledged offices in Europe and London and while the position is based in London periodical travelling may be required.

The Role
You will provide legal advice across the business, serving as the primary point of contact within the UK. Additionally, you will review all legal documentation, identifying and mitigating potential legal risks, handling any property-related disputes that arise, as well as drafting standard in-house documents. You will coordinate all commercial real estate transactions with external lawyers, staying abreast of property legislation to offer proactive and strategic advice to shareholders, helping to mitigate risks.

You will also stay up-to-date with relevant regulations and legislation specific to the companies London Credit business, managing the legal services budget, overseeing fee management, and establishing processes for instructing external lawyers.

The role requires collaboration with internal stakeholders, including the real estate development teams, property management, and finance departments. Furthermore, you will conduct legal due diligence on borrowers and UK properties at all stages, manage litigation related to loan recoveries, and monitor default loans. As a member of both lower and upper-level credit committees, you will contribute to critical decision-making processes, as well as creating and maintaining a panel of external lawyers, ensuring they have the best legal resources available for their needs.

Requirements:

  • 7+ PQE with experience in commercial property, real estate finance and real estate investment
  • In-House experience is required, a secondment or two will suffice
