Europe’s Legal Shift: In-House is In-Demand

5 minutes

Did you know that 53% of legal budgets in Europe are now allocated to in-house teams, rather than external counsel? 🇪🇺

More and more companies are expanding their in-house legal departments – particularly in sectors like tech and finance. The growing need for legal professionals to manage complex regulations, business risks, and compliance is clear.

For legal professionals, this presents exciting opportunities. In-house roles have evolved beyond just providing legal advice, they’re now central to key business decisions – everything from mergers and acquisitions to navigating regulatory challenges.

As we ourselves venture into the European legal market further, we’re seeing an increasing demand for bilingual lawyers who understand both EU regulations and the intricacies of business law.

That said, while in-house legal teams are growing, each European country has its own specific demands.

🇫🇷 In France, there's a strong emphasis on expertise in French corporate law and local compliance regulations, particularly within the banking and luxury goods sectors. Whereas German companies are often seeking lawyers with deep knowledge of EU competition law and a strong understanding of manufacturing and industrial regulations. 🇩🇪
